Terms of Use
These terms of use apply to the iOS/iPadOS app NauticCalc (“App”) and the related informational website (“Website”). They are provided as a structured overview and placeholder and do not constitute individual legal advice.
Scope
These terms govern use of the App and the Website. Apple is your contractual counterparty for App purchases under its applicable terms; these terms supplement use of the App and Website vis-à-vis the operator of NauticCalc.
One-time purchase via the App Store
The App is purchased through the Apple App Store. Purchase terms, price and licence follow Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions and Apple’s Standard End User Licence Agreement (EULA).
With purchase you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App on Apple devices you own or control. Reverse engineering, decompilation or redistribution without consent is prohibited.
No subscription, no account, no cloud
NauticCalc is offered as a one-time purchase — without a subscription from us. No user account with us is required for core features.
We do not centrally store or synchronise navigation and logbook data in our own cloud; details are in the privacy policy.
Use of nautical calculations
The App provides aids for nautical calculations and related tasks. You decide how to apply outputs in real situations.
Operation and interpretation of results are your responsibility and require sound nautical judgment.
No warranty of completeness or freedom from errors
The App and Website are provided in good faith. No warranty is given for uninterrupted availability, complete absence of errors or strict compliance with every navigation practice or regulatory requirement.
Technical changes to iOS, chart data or conditions may affect outputs.
Not a substitute for professional navigation
NauticCalc is a calculation aid and does not replace navigation in the sense of safe conduct of a vessel, training or examination, nautical charts, or safety-critical verification by you.
It does not replace official or professional navigation procedures, required or certified navigation equipment, or decisions that must be made on scene considering weather, traffic and regulations.
User responsibility
You remain solely responsible for safe navigation, compliance with applicable rules and choosing suitable means for navigation and safety.
The App supports planning and documentation; it does not replace due care, lookout and contingency procedures.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, liability for damages arising from use of the App or Website is limited or excluded — in particular for indirect damage, consequential loss or lost profits.
Mandatory statutory liability rules (e.g. for intent or gross negligence, where applicable) remain unaffected.
Changes to the App or content
Features, text and presentation of the App and Website may be adapted or developed further. Material changes to these terms may be communicated via the Website or App.
Continued use after notice may constitute acceptance of reasonably clear changes; otherwise Apple or mandatory law may apply.
